BVN Modification: Correct Your Name, Date of Birth or Phone Number
A misspelt name, a wrong date of birth or an old phone number on your BVN can cause trouble with account upgrades and with matching your NIN to your BVN. On Verifyplatform you can submit a BVN modification request online. Enter your details as they are now, the corrected details, and the enrolment type that applies to your BVN.
About BVN Modification
This is an assisted service, not an instant update. Each request becomes a ticket that our team processes through the enrolment channel you select (Agency or First Bank). You can follow it from pending to in progress, completed or failed in BVN Modification History. You can ask for several changes in one form, but each one is submitted and charged as a separate request.
Approval is not guaranteed. Your new name must match your NIN record exactly, in spelling and in order, or the change may be rejected. A failed request is refunded to your wallet, but if you chose the wrong enrolment type, ₦1,000 is deducted from that refund. Verifyplatform is an independent service platform, not NIBSS, the CBN or your bank, and it processes requests through licensed channels.

Name correction
From ₦7,000Change or rearrange your first, middle and last names. Give your names as they are on your BVN now, then the new names, which must match your NIN exactly.
Date of birth correction
From ₦7,000Replace the date of birth on your BVN. Give your names and current date of birth, then your new names and the correct date of birth.
Phone number change
From ₦7,000Update the phone number linked to your BVN. Give your names, your current 11-digit number and the new 11-digit number.
Address update
From ₦7,000Submit a new residential address for your BVN record: address line, town or city, and state.
Enrolment type
Choose Agency or First Bank. The fee depends on the enrolment type and on the change you request. If you choose the wrong type, the request fails.

- For a phone change, your current and new 11-digit phone numbers

Can I change my BVN details online?
You can submit a BVN modification request online on Verifyplatform. Our team then processes it through the enrolment channel you choose, so the change is not instant and the request can be rejected.
How do I correct my BVN date of birth?
Select Update Date of Birth. Enter your BVN, your NIN, and your names and date of birth as they are now, then your names and the correct date of birth. Choose your enrolment type, confirm with your PIN, and track the request in BVN Modification History.
My BVN name does not match my NIN. What should I do?
Submit a name correction with your new names written exactly as they appear on your NIN, with the same spelling and order. If the name on your NIN is itself wrong, correct your NIN first, because a BVN name that doesn't match your NIN may be rejected.
Can I change the phone number on my BVN?
Yes. Select Update Phone Number and give your names, your current 11-digit number and the new 11-digit number you want linked to your BVN.
What happens if I choose the wrong enrolment type?
The request will fail. The fee is refunded to your wallet with ₦1,000 deducted, so confirm your enrolment type before you submit.
How long does BVN modification take?
Processing time varies, and approval is not guaranteed. Your request shows as pending, in progress, completed or failed in BVN Modification History, so you can check on it at any time.
