NIN and BVN Verification API for Nigerian Developers
The Verifyplatform API lets you build NIN and BVN checks into your own portal, app or agent system. You send a JSON POST with your API key and a NIN, BVN or phone number, and the verified record comes back as JSON in the same response.
About Verification API
There is no setup fee and no separate billing account. You generate a key yourself from the Developer's API page in your dashboard, and each successful call is charged to the same wallet you use on the website. If a lookup returns 'no record found', the charge goes back to your wallet. There is no sandbox, so every call uses real wallet funds.
You can also submit IPE clearance requests by API. They are queued for processing, and you poll a status endpoint for the result. Verifyplatform is an independent service platform that processes requests through licensed partners. It is not NIMC or NIBSS. Use the API only for lawful purposes, and only for the data subject's own record or with their consent.
Options available
NIN verification by NIN
Premium, Standard, Regular and vNIN endpoints. Send your API key and an 11-digit NIN, and the verified record is returned as JSON.
NIN search by phone number
Premium, Standard and Regular endpoints that take an 11-digit phone number (for example 08012345678) instead of a NIN.
BVN verification
Premium and Standard (full details) endpoints. Send your API key and the BVN, and the verified record is returned as JSON.
IPE clearance (submit and poll)
Submit a tracking ID. The request is queued as pending, and you poll the IPE status endpoint for the outcome.

- An API key, generated in one click from the Developer's API page
- A funded wallet (the API uses your website wallet balance)
- A server or app that can send HTTPS POST requests with a JSON body
- A lawful reason for each lookup and the data subject's consent

How it works
- Create a Verifyplatform account or log in.
- Open Developer's API from the dashboard menu and click Generate API Key.
- Fund your wallet. API calls draw from the same balance as the website.
- Send a JSON POST with your api_key and the fields the endpoint needs, such as the NIN, BVN or phone number.
- Read the JSON result. For IPE clearance requests, poll the status endpoint. Review your usage on the API dashboard.

How do I get a NIN API key?
Create a Verifyplatform account, open Developer's API from your dashboard and click Generate API Key. The key is issued instantly, with no setup fee.
How much does the NIN verification API cost?
You pay per successful call from your wallet. The current per-call rates for your key are shown on your API dashboard. IPE clearance requests are priced separately from instant lookups.
Is there a free NIN verification API or test mode?
No. There is no sandbox and no free trial credit, so every successful call is charged to your wallet. Lookups that return no record are refunded automatically.
Can I verify a NIN with a phone number through the API?
Yes. The NIN-by-phone endpoints accept an 11-digit phone number such as 08012345678 and return the linked NIN record as JSON. Use them only for the record holder's own lookups or with their consent.
Does the API return a PDF slip?
No. Results come back as JSON containing the verified record, which you can display or format in your own system.
Can the API process NIN or BVN checks in bulk?
Each call handles one record. Requests are limited to 60 per hour per API key and IP address, or 120 per hour on the IPE status endpoint.
