NIN Modification Online: Correct Your Name, Phone Number or Address

About NIN Modification
Verifyplatform is an independent service platform. It is not NIMC and has no affiliation with NIMC. Our team handles each request by hand, but NIMC makes the final decision and some records cannot be changed. Name, phone number, address and gender are four separate request types, and each has its own short form. Date of birth corrections follow different rules depending on how many years the change covers, so they have their own page with the full requirements.

Update Name
₦5,000Correct or change your first, middle or last name on your NIN record. Names are submitted in capital letters and may contain only letters, spaces and hyphens.
Update Phone Number
₦5,000Replace the phone number linked to your NIN with a new 11-digit Nigerian mobile number.
Update Address
₦5,000Change the residential address on your NIN record. You give the address lines, town or city, postal code and state.
Update Gender
₦15,000Ask for a correction to the gender on your NIN. Gender is a restricted field and cannot be corrected on every record, so approval is not guaranteed.
Update Date of Birth (up to 5 years), with NPC attestation certificate
₦35,000If you already hold an NPC attestation certificate, you give its number and upload a picture of it together with your current and correct date of birth.
Update Date of Birth (up to 5 years), without a certificate
₦55,000If you have no certificate, you complete the NPC declaration with your own details and your father's and mother's details, and the attestation is raised as part of your request.
What you need
- A Verifyplatform account with enough wallet balance, and your 4-digit transaction PIN
- The 11-digit NIN you want to update
- Agreement to the Consent & Authorization terms shown before the form opens
- For a name change: the new first name and last name, plus a middle name if you have one
- For a phone change: the new 11-digit phone number, e.g. 08012345678
- For an address change: address line 1, town or city, postal code and state
- For a gender change: the correct gender (male or female)
- For a date of birth change: your current and correct dates of birth, plus either your NPC certificate number and a picture of it (JPG, PNG, PDF or Word, up to 5MB) or your parents' details

How do I change my name on my NIN online?
Log in to Verifyplatform, open NIN Modification, choose Update Name, then enter your NIN and the corrected names. Our team processes the request and posts the result to your NIN Modification History. If you prefer to apply yourself, NIMC runs its own self-service modification portal. Verifyplatform is an independent assisted service, not NIMC.
Can I change the phone number on my NIN?
Yes. Choose Update Phone Number and enter the new 11-digit number with your NIN and name. Any change still has to be approved by NIMC, so we cannot guarantee the result.
What documents do I need to change my name on NIN?
Our form asks only for your NIN and the new name details. A full change of name, for example after marriage, may need supporting documents such as a marriage certificate, a sworn affidavit or a newspaper publication.
How long does NIN modification take to reflect?
We cannot promise a fixed processing time, because each request is handled by hand and decided by NIMC. Once a change is approved, it appears on your NIMC record. Banks and SIM providers keep their own copies of your details, so they can take longer to show the update.
Why was my NIN modification rejected?
Common reasons are that the NIN already has a self-service account, or that it was registered as a child enrolment. When a request fails, the reason appears on your order and the fee goes back into your wallet automatically.
How do I check my NIN modification status?
Open NIN Modification History in your dashboard. Each request shows its status (pending, processing, completed or failed) along with any response or reason for failure from our team.
