NIN Date of Birth Correction (DOB Modification): Prices and Requirements
If the date of birth on your NIN does not match your birth record, you can request a correction online through Verifyplatform. What you need and what you pay depend on how many years separate the date on your NIN from your true date of birth.
About NIN Date of Birth Correction
For a change of 5 years or less, choose Update Date of Birth on the NIN Modification page. If you already have an NPC attestation certificate, you upload it. If you do not, you fill in the NPC declaration with your parents' details and the attestation is raised as part of your request. A change of more than 5 years and up to 15 years goes through a separate premium route that is reviewed by hand, in two bands: 6 to 10 years and 11 to 15 years. Changes of more than 15 years are not offered.
This service is only for fixing a genuine registration error so that your NIN matches your real birth record. Verifyplatform is independent and not affiliated with NIMC or NPC. NIMC decides every request, a date of birth can generally be corrected only once, and approval is not guaranteed. If a request fails, the fee goes back into your wallet.

Up to 5 years, with an NPC attestation certificate

Up to 5 years, without a certificate
₦55,000You complete the NPC declaration: your own birth, origin, education, occupation and address details, plus your father's and mother's details. The attestation is then raised as part of the request.
6 to 10 years (premium)
₦75,000For corrections of more than 5 and up to 10 years. The request is reviewed by hand, and the system checks that your old and new dates fall within this band.
11 to 15 years (premium)
₦85,000For corrections of more than 10 and up to 15 years. You give the same details as for the 6 to 10 year band. Anything beyond 15 years is rejected at submission.
What you need
- A Verifyplatform account with enough wallet balance, and your 4-digit transaction PIN
- Your 11-digit NIN, the date of birth currently on it, and your correct date of birth
- Up to 5 years, with a certificate: your NPC certificate number and a picture or scan of the certificate (JPG, PNG, PDF or Word, up to 5MB)
- Up to 5 years, without a certificate: your full declaration details, plus your father's and mother's surname, first name, state and LGA of origin and town (your mother's middle name is compulsory)
- 6 to 15 years: your full name as it appears on the NIN, your state and your local government

- Work out how many years separate the date of birth on your NIN from your correct date of birth.

- Fill in the form and confirm with your transaction PIN.
- Follow the status in NIN Modification History. If the request fails, the fee goes back into your wallet.

Can I change my date of birth on NIN online?
Yes. You can submit a date of birth correction from your Verifyplatform dashboard, and our team processes it for you. NIMC makes the final decision. You can also apply yourself on NIMC's own self-service portal. Verifyplatform is an independent service, not NIMC.
Can I change my NIN date of birth more than once?
Generally no. A date of birth on a NIN can normally be corrected only once. Before you submit, make sure the new date matches your birth record exactly.
Can I change my date of birth on NIN by more than 5 years?
